Hydra is affilliated with the following programs and organisations:

The Hydra coordinater FhG FIT is a member of ARTEMISIA, the association for R&D actors in the field of ARTEMIS: Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems.

The Hydra middleware allows developers to create inclusive applications with a high degree of accessibility for all. The Hydra project supports the Commissions campaign: eInclusion - be part of it!

The Hydra project is part of the Cluster of European projects on the Internet of Things. The Cluster aims to promote a common vision of the Internet of Things.

The Hydra project is co-funded by the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Programme in the area of Networked Embedded Systems under contract IST-2005-034891

Middleware for Building Pervasive Systems 1.0

Al-Akkad, A., Pramudianto, F., Jahn, M. and Zimmermann, A., Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology, Germany

Pervasive software succeeds when it is leveraged permeable into the background of everyday life and work supporting users more properly to fulfil their tasks than they used to do it with pre-existing techniques. Hence, we hypothesize, that a particular pervasive system may comprise certain styles of intelligent networking embedded systems, secure communication patterns, context-aware assisting, novel techniques of interaction and many more sophisticated features. Building such highly flexible systems poses diverse challenges for an underlying middleware platform. This paper reports - from a developers\' point of view - on experiences we gained from using a generic middleware framework that targets the rapid development of pervasive systems.

This paper was presented at the International Association for Development of Information Society International Conference Applied Computing (IADIS 2009), Rome, Italy, 19-21 November 2009.
