Hydra is affilliated with the following programs and organisations:

The Hydra coordinater FhG FIT is a member of ARTEMISIA, the association for R&D actors in the field of ARTEMIS: Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems.

The Hydra middleware allows developers to create inclusive applications with a high degree of accessibility for all. The Hydra project supports the Commissions campaign: eInclusion - be part of it!

The Hydra project is part of the Cluster of European projects on the Internet of Things. The Cluster aims to promote a common vision of the Internet of Things.

The Hydra project is co-funded by the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Programme in the area of Networked Embedded Systems under contract IST-2005-034891

Product Line Enabled Intelligent Mobile Middleware 1.0

Weishan Zhang and Klaus Marius Hansen, Department of Computer Science, University of Aarhus, Denmark, Thomas Kunz, Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada:

Current mobile middleware is designed according to a ‘one-size-fits-all’ paradigm, which lacks the flexibility for customization and adaptation to different situations, and does not support user-centered application scenarios well. In this paper we describe software product line ideas which make it possible for specialized customization and optimization for different purposes and hardware/software platforms. To enable intelligence, the middleware needs access to a range of context models. We model these contexts with OWL, focusing on usercentered concepts.

The paper was presented at the Twelfth IEEE International Conference on Engineering of Complex Computer Systems (ICECCS 2007) 11-14 July 2007 in Auckland, New Zealand.
