Hydra is affilliated with the following programs and organisations:

The Hydra coordinater FhG FIT is a member of ARTEMISIA, the association for R&D actors in the field of ARTEMIS: Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems.

The Hydra middleware allows developers to create inclusive applications with a high degree of accessibility for all. The Hydra project supports the Commissions campaign: eInclusion - be part of it!

The Hydra project is part of the Cluster of European projects on the Internet of Things. The Cluster aims to promote a common vision of the Internet of Things.

The Hydra project is co-funded by the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Programme in the area of Networked Embedded Systems under contract IST-2005-034891

Semantic Devices for Ambient Environment Middleware 1.0

Peter Kostelník,, Martin Sarnovskı, Ján Hreňo, Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, Technical University of Košice, Slovakia, Matts Ahlsén, Peter Rosengren, Peeter Kool, Mathias Axling, CNet Svenska AB, Dandaryd, Sweden:

Numerous services to support us in our personal life will be provided through these ambient devices and over the connection to the outside world. In order to cope with the huge variety of capabilities of the devices, there should be a mechanism providing the necessary adaptations to whatever interfaces or communication protocols these devices offer.

HYDRA introduces the Semantic Model Driven Architecture (Semantic MDA) which aims to facilitate application development and to promote semantic interoperability for services and devices. The semantic MDA of HYDRA includes a set of models, i.e., ontologies, and describes how these can be used both in design-time and in run-time. The basic idea behind the HYDRA Semantic MDA is to differentiate between the physical devices and the application\'s view of the device.

The paper was presented at the Internet of Things and Services workshop held in Sophia Antipolis, France 18-19 September 2008.
